In culmination of the Minor in Writing program, I am currently enrolled in a Capstone Course aimed at synthesizing and reflecting on my writing progression throughout my undergraduate carreer. One of our main tasks for the semester was to create a project that would engage the reflective, argumentative, and multimedia skills that we have been working on during our time in the Minor in Writing.

Given my communications major, internship background in public relations, and also just my own personal interest, I decided to further explore the topic of how social media affects levels of engagement. In order to do so, I decided that I would withdraw from all of my social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest - for three weeks, given pre-existing research that it takes that long to break a habit. Interestingly enough, I had originally desired to track how social media affected individuals' feelings of connectivity with their peers. However, with the more examples I gathered during my three-week withdrawal, I saw that the most interesting effects lied within how social media alters how people choose to engage with their peers and society. Here is a link to my Tumblr page where I have presented findings from my Social Media Project.

Enjoy!
